Engaging people with the Upper Mississippi River to care for the River.

Our chapter’s mission is to conserve, restore, and sustain the Upper Mississippi River for future generations.

The Izaak Walton League of America’s mission is to conserve, maintain, protect and restore the natural resources of the United States of America, including particularly, but not exclusively, soil, air, woods, waters and wildlife.

We will sponsor, share, and cultivate opportunities for the education of the public for the Upper Mississippi River.

Our goal is to provide information on how you can get out there and enjoy the river as well as how you can learn about state and federal managment of the river and how you can make your voice heard when policy is enacted on Upper Mississippi River

Ready to take the next step?

Join us at our monthly meetings and see what we are up to!

We meet at 6 pm, the second Monday of each month, usually at the Nature Place in La Crosse Wisconsin at 789 Myrick Park Dr, La Crosse, WI 54601. We may meet other places - so stay tuned to our Facebook Page!

Get involved in monitoring osprey nests! Get all the details on our Osprey Watch page and start adding your observations!

An important objective of this work is to identify active osprey nests along the river to get a better understanding of their distribution and abundance. Continued annual monitoring will help establish temporal tends and potential factors influencing those trends. I believe they are an indicator of habitat and environmental quality.  Working with multiple groups, river managers, researchers, scientists, and interested citizens along the river will help build a partnership focused on a common objective that is integral to our chapter’s overall mission on the Upper Mississippi River.  - John Sullivan, chapter member
